Before you buy: a few honest notes
Discover Your Direction is for young people who feel pressure to pick a major or a career before they feel ready, whether that pressure comes from school, family or their own expectations. Rather than asking learners to choose a path straight away, it helps them explore: understanding what they value, describing their strengths to employers, mentors and family, and reaching out to people who can help.
By the end, learners will have:
- a personal toolkit for exploring careers;
- practice explaining what they offer, in their own words;
- the beginnings of a professional network;
- a 30-day action plan for their next steps;
- more confidence making decisions and changing course when they need to.
The course is made up of 19 chapters and more than 10 hours of video, with reflection exercises in every chapter, short exercises that connect one chapter to the next, and downloadable templates and scripts for emails, LinkedIn messages, informational interviews and decision-making. There are no grade, school or background requirements.

This course is created and delivered by CareerCanny, a Gloria Institute partner. It is not a Gloria Institute certification and does not lead to a Gloria credential or count toward any Gloria pathway. It is a practical, non-accredited course focused on exploration and real-world skills.
The course is self-paced, so learners work through it on their own schedule. It works best for learners who will actually do the exercises and send the outreach messages, rather than only watch the videos.
